Question Salvaging - when to do it?

I have found 2 purple drops in 11 levels... now the quesiton I have is, when is it best to salvage, and when is it best to sell to another player or a vendor?

For instance, I have on me a purple Air Wand... what to do with it? I'm not even sure how to tell what it might be worth?

Expert kit? Regular kit? Why salvage at all?

I find the whole salvage system very confusing. If I loot a purple or a nice blue item, and I want the max value out of it (cannot use it) what is best to do with it?

I'm sorry, but this has been asked many times and takes awhile to explain. The Search button is your friend.

The first thread has some approximate prices for different upgrade components, and the rest explain salvaging. It will take awhile to figure out what is good, what's worth trading, and what's worth salvaging. There's no quick answer, just start reading and experimenting, and you'll figure it out with time.

Thank you for the obligatory "search the forums before you post" post.

I did search. And I read the threads you posted here. However, I still have zero understanding of wether to sell or salvage rare items. I'm leaning towards selling.

Ok, next time I won't waste my time then. Just for future reference, saying "I have a purple air wand" is telling us absolutely nothing. If you want to know what something is worth, then tell us it's stats.

If it has good stats then sell it. If it doesn't and you unlocked something when you identified it then expert salvage it. If it sucks, and didn't unlock anything upon id'ing it, then either regular salvage it or sell it to an NPC. Or you could save us all the trouble, and actually think before you post. If you had searched and read those threads I posted beforehand, you would not be so confused about salvaging. I tried to help you, and you throw it back in my face. Like I said, it takes time to learn which items are good, which to salvage, and which you're just better off selling.

Anyone else tired of hearing the "use the search"?

Lame ass answer. Always has been, always will be.

Did you notice that I actually did the search myself, posted the link, and gave an answer?

The only lame-ass thing I see here, is the same question asked over and over, and people that are too lazy to search.

Unfortunately search isn't always that useful - try searching "pet names" for example. (the answer I was looking for was /namepet - a completely undocumented feature so it seems). Better to just give an answer if you have it instead of bloating with useless "use search" replies, at least on this occasion the 2nd poster did give references of where to look.

Yeah, i'm pretty sick of seeing "Use the search function, you n00b" posts. I haven't posted here myself any questions, so none of this has been directed at me. But as I comb through the board, looking for answers to questions I might have, I see someone ask the same question i'm wondering. Exciting stuff.. Then I open the thread and only see "Use the search feature!" and.. yay. Way to waste our time.

waste YOUR time? these people look at the questions you have and help answer them for FREE, and you complaing about them wasting YOUR time. The world does not revolve around you, they dont have to answer you, but choose to. THey dont want to give the same answer more than once, just use search and save them the trouble.
